Hello & Welcome!

I’m glad you’ve found your way here!

Pregnancy is full of unknowns, whether it is your first or eighth time around. You may be bombarded with words you don't know and feelings you have never felt.

When it comes to one of the most important times in your life, you deserve to be as informed as possible. So, have you considered hiring a doula?

Whether you're having your baby in a hospital or at home, a doula will provide the information you need to make the best decisions about your pregnancy and birth and will support you and your decisions without judgment.

Every pregnant woman deserves a doula!

Doula Services

As your doula…

I will help you prepare for the birth of your child and will be with you throughout labor and birth to provide reassurance, physical and emotional support and encouragement. I will suggest ways to improve progress and ease discomfort. I can offer hands on assistance with massage and gentle guidance.

What is a Doula?

A doula trusts the process of birth.
The word doula is Greek, and refers to a woman who personally serves another woman.  She is a non-medical assistant who provides physical, emotional and informational support in prenatal care, during childbirth and during the postpartum period.
Women cared for during labor by a birth doula, compared to those receiving usual care were…
  • 26% less likely to give birth by cesarean section
  • 41% less likely to give birth with a vacuum extractor or forceps
  • 28% less likely to use any analgesia or anesthesia
  • 33% less likely to be dissatisfied or negatively rate their birth experience

A labor doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during labor, childbirth and postpartum. She helps facilitate the birth experience for the parents, baby, and primary care providers and provides explanations of medical procedures and interventions.

A doula is also an important support during pregnancy, providing advice and suggestions to make pregnancy more comfortable.  Doulas can help with preparation of a birth plan.  A doula can also help the new mother postpartum with breastfeeding.
On the other hand, doulas do not perform clinical tasks such as heart rate checks, or vaginal exams.  These things are better left to your chosen medical care providers.

When to hire a…
Labor Support Doula

I suggest that you begin your search for a labor doula between 5-7 months gestation.  This gives you plenty of time to interview different doulas and decide on who you would like at your birth.  Most prenatal appointments can be done within a month of your due date.  If you get a late start, don’t worry!  I’ve been hired the day of a birth, so it’s almost never too late.

Postpartum Doula

I suggest that you begin your search for a postpartum doula between 7-8 months gestation.  This gives you time to find the right doula and allows you to have a contract in place with your doula before the birth of your baby.  You can wait until after your baby is born, but remember that you’ll need to get a contract set up before the doula can help you, and if you need help urgently, this will definitely cause some added stress.
